Organization Information: Fenway Health is a comprehensive community health center and New England’s leading primary care health center for the lesbian and gay community. They provide health care to residents of Boston’s Fenway neighborhood and administers The Fenway Institute, the nation’s leading center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender research and evaluation, training and education and policy and advocacy. The Fenway Institute conducts a wide range of studies on such topics as HIV risk reduction and prevention, drug treatment trials efficacy, substance abuse recovery and hepatitis transmission.

Job Description: Responsible for implementing individual and group level interventions for gay and bisexual men as well as transgender individuals who may be at risk for HIV, STDs, viral hepatitis and/or substance abuse. Typical duties include: helping clients manage life issues that threaten stability; connecting clients to needed services; working with HIV-positive individuals to encourage medication adherence; conducting HIV counseling and testing; and conducting peer counseling, education and support groups.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or relevant work experience
- Experience with HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and/or service delivery
- Experience working with people of color & men who have sex with men
- Experience with and understanding of LGBT issues
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Professional experience working with those suffering from substance abuse/addiction highly desirable
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Experience as a Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or similar a plus
- Experience in phlebotomy a plus
- Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
