We recently received this testimonial regarding their services (name has been changed for anonymity), and while we have not personally been to the hospital ourselves, we want to help get the word out and give props where it is due for any facility that acts in this way. We have not been paid, approached, or sponsored by this hospital in any way.
As an aside, Newton-Wellsley Hospital was THE most gay friendly medical facility that we’ve ever encountered! It was outstanding, so much so, that, keeping with the “physiology not psychology” motif of gender identity, they asked Thomas [my partner] if he had any history of pregnancy. The nurse we met reported that this was a STANDARD question asked of ALL patients. I was asked directly if I was Thomas’ partner or husband and I was introduced as such to each medical person that entered the room.
Please spread this: the more support the medical industry hears from people who enjoy and appreciate this kind of behavior, the sooner we can (hopefully) have it become the norm. Because it really is not hard, and it’s a pity it isn’t status quo.
